When you come out on top after the grueling NHL playoffs (especially in the fashion the Kings did it in), you have the absolute right to do as you please with the hardware.
The Los Angeles Kings celebrated their second championship in three seasons at Tao Nightclub in Las Vegas Thursday night, and what a celebration it looked to have been. Players even let some of the young ladies in the building sip out of Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Tao issued this official statement regarding the party:
Members of the Los Angeles Kings celebrated their NHL championship win at TAO’s Worship Thursday party. Nearly all of the team, including Trevor Lewis, Jeff Carter, Jarrett Stoll, Brad Richardson, Drew Doughty, Mike Richards, Alec Martinez, Jordan Nolan and more entered TAO Nightclub with Lord Stanley in tow to stunned fans snapping photos in disbelief that they were seeing the iconic trophy.
After being introduced by a presentation of a little person dressed as a “King” on his throne, the Kings players each took turns drinking Champagne out of the top of the Cup.
As the fun continued and fans clamored to get pictures, each player took the 35 pound silver trophy and hoisted it over their heads as DJ Five gave them shout outs and the crowd cheered each time.
Before they departed, the team made their way up to the stage above the dance floor so the entire club could get one last glimpse of Lord Stanley.
They posed with the Stanley Cup as flashes blinked wildly around the club. As they were exiting, some players grabbed toy king crowns off the prop cart and wore them proudly out of the club.
The Kings earned every bit of this recognition, so they should continue to ride the wave that winning the Stanley Cup enables…But then again, they know they all to well already.
