Last year was a very disappointing season for rookie head coach Derek Fisher and the New York Knicks. Phil Jackson’s triangle offense didn’t work, Carmelo Anthony’s season ended early due to injury and the Knicks finished the season a 17-65 record. The 17 wins were the second lowest in the NBA but coach Fisher isn’t rattled, he sees the light at the end of the tunnel.
The Knicks added veterans Arron Afflalo, Robin Lopez and Kyle O’Quinn who will assist in the molding process of rookies Kristap Porzingis and Jerian Grant. Carmelo is expected to be back and at full strength leaving coach Fisher optimistic that the team will do better than last year.
Derek Fisher today: "We’re not going to win just 17 games. We feel like we can say that and feel pretty confident about that. "

To be honest, this doesn’t come off to me as a large leap of faith from Fisher, they only won 17 games last year. It won’t take much to win 18 in the weaker conference known as the East. I expect the Knicks to have a better season than last year but I’m not convinced they will even be a playoff caliber team.
