Here is Mendenhall’s quote.
What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side… We’ll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style. I believe in God. I believe we’re ALL his children. And I believe HE is the ONE and ONLY judge. Those who judge others, will also be judged themselves. For those of you who said you want to see Bin Laden burn in hell and piss on his ashes, I ask how would God feel about your heart? There is not an ignorant bone in my body. I just encourage you to #think
His facts are a little off, since Bin Laden admitted himself he was responsible for 9-11, could he being lying? I suppose, but in general I think it is pretty clear that Bin Laden wasn’t one of the good guys.
With that being said I have no problem with what Mendenhall said.
It is an opinion and it is one that I personally believe has merit because I look at it like this. Killing Bin Laden in almost all Americans eyes was a reason to celebrate because we believe in our hearts what he did was wrong, but just remember that when the planes crashed into the twin towers others were celebrating those deaths because they felt what Americans were doing was wrong.
It is your right as a human to have ownership of your own feelings.
Just don’t be hypocritical to believe that your feelings are the universal truth, because simply we don’t know. We can all hope and believe we are doing the right things, but you never really know.
Mendenhall shouldn’t be condemned on his beliefs just like someone who felt justification in celebrating death shouldn’t be condemned.
The beauty of being an American is freedom of speech, if you want people to respect yours, please respect others.
