I don’t see how this trade would be beneficial for the HEAT, unless you consider Collison a major upgrade over Dragic, but here are the particulars from Basketball Insiders.
The Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat have discussed a trade of Rudy Gay and Darren Collison for Goran Dragic, league sources told Basketball Insiders.
“Sacramento has to trade Gay,” an Eastern Conference executive told Basketball Insiders. “He’s already informed them he doesn’t like it there. They can’t let him walk for nothing.”
Gay’s contract comes off the books next season and he has already told the Kings he isn’t coming back, so makes sense they would want to move him.
Maybe the HEAT are just looking at a way to shed salary for a reboot of their franchise since the Big 3 are all gone (Bosh will be released at some point) or they have great faith in Collison becoming a prime time player.
