NFL running back Kareem Hunt was released back in November after a video was released of him kicking a woman at a Cleveland hotel in February 2018. With the history of domestic violence in the NFL, many believed he wouldn’t see the field again. The Cleveland Browns took a chance during the NFL’s investigation and signed the 23-year old back to a one-year deal.
Today, Adam Schefter reported the NFL will suspend Hunt for eight games for violating it’s personal conduct policy. In the policy it states:
“Players convicted of a crime or subject to a disposition of a criminal proceeding (as defined in this
Policy) are subject to discipline. But even if the conduct does not result in a criminal conviction, players
found to have engaged in any of the following conduct will be subject to discipline.”
Some of the conduct that are listed are “Actual or threatened physical violence against another person, including dating violence, domestic violence, child abuse, and other forms of family violence”, “Illegal possession, use, or distribution of alcohol or drugs”, and “Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL personnel. ”
Hunt will be available for the Browns in week 9. Browns fans can be mad because their general manager John Dorsey took that chance and knew the possibility of a suspension. Then again, Browns running back Nick Chubb should be able to handle the first nine weeks with Duke Johnson Jr. and Hunt will will be refreshed by then. Plus the Browns added offensive phenom Odell Beckham Jr. to the roster.
Before his release, Hunt had 824 rushing yards, seven touchdowns and no fumbles for the Kansas City Chiefs. In 2017, he had 1,327 yards, eight touchdowns and one fumble. Receiving wise, he has a total of 833 yards and 10 touchdowns.
See what Hunt said about the suspension and how fans feel when it comes to the NFL’s disciplinary ways against domestic violence and the Browns decision to sign him.
