UFC fighters are as tough as nails.
Fighters put themselves through tremendous amounts of physical pain in order to entertain fight fans and compete for championships.
UFC light heavyweight Thiago Santos is no different.
Santos fought valiantly in defeat to UFC light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones this past Saturday night in Las Vegas at UFC 239.
The title challenger stated after the fight that he felt something give out in his left knee during the first round.
During the later rounds, Santos, 35, was clearly favoring the leg before ultimately losing to Jones.
What Santos apparently felt was him tearing his ACL, MCL, PCL, and meniscus in the middle of the fight.
Santos fought with incredible heart and on one judge’s score card actually won the fight.
His manager confirmed the injuries after tests shown the extent of the injuries on Monday.
Santos is out for the rest of 2019 and beyond.
Give Santos credit though for fighting through excruciating pain to give himself a chance to win.
