When former Raiders CEO Amy Trask stated last week that Brock Purdy was a decent quarterback but the worst one still in the playoffs, she received a lot of backlash. Then, out of all the quarterbacks who won this past weekend, he had the lowest performance.
Was Trask correct about Purdy, then? Maybe she was.
Purdy has an outstanding regular season record. His quarterback rating is 111.4 and he has a 17–4 win–loss record. Those are amazing figures.
But in the end, postseason performance is what matters most when evaluating quarterbacks. And Purdy hasn’t played well in his four postseason games.

In his first postseason game, he was outstanding. Against the Seahawks in the wild card round, he recorded a 131.5 passer rating. However, he had a poor rating of 87.4 against the Cowboys in the divisional round the following week, who missed a few easy interceptions. The next week, during the opening drive of the NFC Championship game, he suffered an elbow injury.
Now fast-forward to this season. Purdy had another dismal rating of 86.4 against the Packers last week; if Green Bay had held onto two possible interceptions, the score might have thrown worse. Thus, it’s reasonable to conclude that Purdy is the worst quarterback still playing in the postseason. He undoubtedly has the most to demonstrate. However, he will surpass Goff if he defeats the Lions this Sunday. He’ll be exceptional if he wins the Super Bowl.
Those are the guidelines.
