It would be a wonder, at this point, if a Gervonta Davis bout didn’t result in knockout. Furthermore, they appear to keep getting better.
Tank faced the undefeated Frank Martin on Saturday night in an attempt to retain his WBA lightweight belt. Following a tentative start—which he subsequently explained away as being “rusty”—Davis destroyed the competition with a spectacular knockout that would go down as a high point on his career highlight reel.

28 KOs later, Gervonta “Tank” Davis is 30-0
Davis’ performance wasn’t flawless, by any means. It has become accustomed to us that he will initially approach things cautiously, waiting for an opportunity to strike. That being said, he appeared to be especially impacted by not having fought since April 2022.
However, following the first three rounds, Tank began to hit Martin very hard, and Martin was unable to handle the relentless forward pressure. Martin gave a good start to Round 8 with a couple of combinations, but Tank ended the fight with a devastating left-handed uppercut and punch.
Tank will have no shortage of options when it comes to his next opponent, though the current reports strongly suggest that a matchup with Vasiliy Lomachenko is highly likely.
