Hit piece or not?
Eric Bieniemy has had 15 head coaching job interviews and hasn’t been hired. According to Chiefs Kingdom, that doesn’t have to do with race but Bieniemy himself.
Citing several anonymous sources, Bienemy is not well-liked by coaches or players. The most important player that doesn’t like Bieniemy is Patrick Mahomes.
That might be why Bienemy won’t be back as offensive coordinator for the 2022 season.
The question begs, who is leaking this information and why? Is the NFL trying to distract from the Brian Flores lawsuit, or are people just fed up with it being reported that Bieniemy is being unfairly treated in the job hiring process?

There is no racism involved with Bieniemy not getting a head coaching job. When you interview for a role 15 times and come away empty handed, it’s time to look at the man in the mirror. Bieniemy has rushed his interviews, been incomplete in thought and structure and has lacked a true plan that a billionaire owner can get behind.
The back-channel communication on Bieniemy is simply not good and it has zero to do with race.
before the Chiefs-Raiders game in Las Vegas, Reid told production officials to avoid sideline shots of Bieniemy. Something again had happened in that week of prep leading up to the game.
Nobody will go on record as to what, other than to say “something happened.” But if you go back and re-watch the games this year, Bieniemy’s camera time went down compared to years past.
Regardless of how Bieniemy is perceived to say race has nothing to do with it is insincere and dangerous. The fact is that Bieniemy isn’t being hired not because he doesn’t have the qualification, but his demeanor is similar to what things have been said about Brian Flores.
I don’t know if the author or authors of this article are white or not, but if they are, I can see how in their minds, someone telling them it has more to be with his demeanor could sound like it isn’t a racial issue when it really is.
Strong-willed black men always get a bad reputation. There is a buck-breaking system in place for black men, and when they don’t do that for the white masters, they are portrayed as difficult, and everything else is questioned.
Let’s get to the part about Mahomes and Bieniemy’s relationship.
On the last play before halftime, three feet and nearly two years of frustration wiped out a chance to secure Kansas City’s third straight Super Bowl berth. Poor communication, stubbornness and lack of game control all came together at the worst possible time.
Players have to execute the plays, but coaches also have a job to do.
Bieniemy failed in this situation, and everyone in the NFL knows it.
Bieniemy and Mahomes get into it at halftime, in the tunnel and in the locker room. There was in-the-face yelling before Reid and the other coaches stepped in. It happened again after the game. Any remaining confidence or trust in the relationship was broken at that point.
Nobody can say exactly when this happened but at one point during the AFC Championship, the following exchange took place after Bienemy called a play.
Reid: “No, run this”
Bieniemy: “What the fuck.”
Kafka: “We’re blowing this game.”
Mahomes: “Call the fucking play or I will.”
I will be honest this sounds like things that happen a lot in the NFL, not just with the Chiefs. Don’t get me wrong, if Mahomes doesn’t feel comfortable with Bieniemy that is a major problem, but at least publicly, Mahomes has pushed for Bieniemy to get a head coaching gig.
