Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball was involved in a car accident in uptown Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon, local media reported.
Ball, 24, appeared uninjured after his custom Hummer collided with another vehicle, witnesses said. He was seen exiting the wrecked Hummer and leaving the scene in a Lamborghini that arrived to pick him up. The other person involved in the crash suffered minor injuries that were not life-threatening, according to MEDIC.
WSOC-TV cameras captured footage of Ball getting out of the damaged vehicle and appearing to be okay. The incident occurred in the heart of uptown, prompting a response from emergency services.

This is not the first time Ball has been linked to a vehicle-related incident. In May 2024, a North Carolina mother sued Ball and the Hornets, alleging he struck her son with his car while the child sought an autograph outside the team’s arena in October of the previous year. Video compilations from that period also surfaced showing Ball’s alleged reckless driving near the Spectrum Center.
The crash drew immediate attention on social media, with fans and observers sharing reactions ranging from concern to speculation.
One X user posted video of the accident, captioning it: “Video of LaMelo Ball’s car accident 😬😳.” Another shared: “It appears LaMelo Ball was in a car accident in Charlotte just now. Nothing confirmed.”

Replies to the initial WSOC-TV report included questions about the circumstances. “He got to leave the scene? Was he drunk? High?” one user asked. Another commented: “Look at Daddy arriving and sneaking him away from the scene. Quick…hide the drugs and don’t let them take a blood test.”
Some expressed relief that Ball seemed unharmed. “Hard to tell but he moved fine. Hopefully he and the other people involved are okay,” a Reddit user noted in a Hornets forum discussion. Others injected humor: “How do u even do that 😭,” an Instagram commenter wrote.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating the crash. No charges have been filed.
