A 16-year-old Middle Tennessee girl is facing charges after authorities said she ran onto the field during a middle school football game and tackled a player. Yes, you read that correctly.
The incident happened Tuesday during a game between South Middle School and Cornersville Middle School. The matchup was being played at Franklin County High School, where South plays its home games.
According to authorities, South had just scored a touchdown and an extra point around 8 p.m. when a scuffle broke out between two players at the end of the play.
Apparently, that was the moment our alleged surprise linebacker decided it was time to clock in.

Apparently, watching the game from the sideline was no longer exciting enough.
Video of the game obtained by WSMV shows two referees throwing flags for the scuffle in the end zone while the players start to walk back towards their huddles.
The 16-year-old girl is then seen jumping a fence and running onto the field to tackle the South Middle player involved in the scuffle.
Investigators said the 16-year-old, who is a Marshall County Schools student, then hit the player a second time and stood over him until coaches were able to break up the fight.
School resource officers met the teen as she slowly walked off the field towards the Cornersville Middle sideline. Game officials cleared the field and decided to the game early with South winning 35-0.
Law enforcement are involved, and the teenager is now facing charges.
The teen, who deputies said was at the game with her parents, was released to go home with her family. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office charged the teen with assault and disorderly conduct on Wednesday morning.
Franklin County Schools issued the 16-year-old a lifetime trespass ban from all district properties. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association also banned her from attending all Cornersville Middle School athletic events for one year.
The teenager now has charges to deal with and a ban from future games.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Middle Tennessee, a coach is probably looking at his roster and wondering if he should recruit her.
