LaMelo Ball has a game plan for handling one of fatherhood’s messiest duties. And it seems his girlfriend might be doing most of the heavy lifting.
Ball recently discussed how he and his partner handle diaper-changing duties.
According to the NBA star, they have a “good game plan.” That sounds promising.
However, his comments have left people wondering whether his role in the operation involves changing diapers or simply staying as far away from the action as possible.

The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard, 25, was interviewed before his debut on the team on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and was asked whether he has been changing his 9-month-old son LaOne’s diapers. Ball, who shares his son with partner Ana Montana, responded that it is “not my job.”
“Nah, my girl do all that. It’s love, for sure,” said Ball. “She do all that, you know what I’m saying? We got a good game plan going on. So I know what I gotta do, bring to the table, she know what she gotta do, bring to the table.”
“I did it before, you feel me? I’ve definitely did it before, [but] it’s just not my job,” Ball clarified. “You know what I’m saying? It’s not my job.”
Ball’s comments suggest that his girlfriend handles the diaper-changing duties, while the couple follows their own arrangement as parents. His 37-year-old girlfriend Ana Montana was just arrested on drug charges. He did not need to draw up a complicated basketball play to explain it. Apparently, the household has already decided who takes responsibility when the baby needs a fresh diaper.
Every couple develops its own routine when raising a child. Some parents split every task equally. Others divide responsibilities based on their schedules, preferences, and what works best for the family.
Still, leaving diaper changes to one parent can quickly become controversial. Babies do not exactly follow a convenient timetable. They can decide to make a mess during dinner, in the middle of the night, or just when everyone thinks the day is finally going well.
There is no timeout button for that.
And while Ball might be comfortable with the arrangement, some parents would argue that diaper duty is part of the full fatherhood package. You cannot just celebrate the adorable baby pictures and disappear when things get unpleasant.
Unfortunately, babies do not care about NBA contracts, celebrity status, or how many points someone scored last night. When a diaper needs changing, the job needs doing.
