Hugh Douglas Michael Smith

This took place at the National Association of Black Journalist conference in Orlando. For full disclosure I was speaking at the conference, but wasn’t a witness to the altercation that was first brought to light by The Big Lead.

ESPN released a statement.

“We are aware there was a disagreement between Hugh Douglas and Michael Smith on Friday,” ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said via email. “We are looking into the situation.

What I do know is that no punches were thrown and from my own sources who were there, it wasn’t as bad as it is being currently portrayed.

More along of the line of jokes that got a little bit too personal, nothing more, nothing less. Douglas won’t appear on the show he co-hosts with Smith “Numbers Don’t Lie” today and ESPN hasn’t given any indication what that means for the future.

From what I’ve seen over the last few months, Hugh Douglas is a retired NFLer who thinks he can “strong arm” everyone. What a jerk….
