The new look Lakers are going through transition after losing Dwight Howard and awaiting the return of the “Black Mamba”.
Steve Nash appears to be an essential piece this upcoming season, after losing Howard, Mike D’Antoni is allowed more freedom to run the up-tempo style he’s accustom to.
With the lack of quality depth at point guard, Nash may have to play heavy minutes similar to last year.
Lakers trainer Gary Vitti doesn’t think that’s the answer.
“He might be a guy that would be better off reducing his minutes,” Vitti said of Nash, who played an average of 32.5 minutes per game last season. “Because he wasn’t himself last year, let’s see what he’s like in camp. We’re not going to beat the guy up.”
Nash missed 32 games last season due to injuries, the Lakers must keep him fresh.
