According to a story courtesy Sports Illustrated, the Washington Nationals will be without the services of third baseman Ryan Zimmerman for a while after he injured his thumb.
Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman left Saturday night’s game early with a fractured right thumb. James Wagner of the Washington Post is reporting Zimmerman will be out 4-6 weeks with the injury.
Zimmerman landed awkwardly while diving back into the second base bag. There was blood on his hand and he left for the clubhouse with a trainer.
Bad break for the Nationals but Zimmerman missing four-to-six weeks during the course of a six month season shouldn’t hinder their chances of winning their division all that much.
