After months of speculation on Kyrie Irving’s future with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it seems that the All-Star guard will be staying in Ohio for the foreseeable future.
Reports earlier today indicated the Cavs were flying to New Jersey to offer Irving the maximum extension possible of five years and $90 million on July 1. Now, there are reports coming out of ESPN Cleveland that Irving will be signing the extension and committing himself totally to the Cavalier organization.

While these are simply rumors until Irving signs on the dotted line, this is welcome news for an organization who has lost its fair share of stars in the past. The 22-year-old guard is the cornerstone of the Cleveland franchise, and by having him locked in long-term the team can now focus on free agents and building a winning roster around Irving.
