Michael Vick wants to play another season in the NFL, and points to the fact that he’s still one of the fastest quarterbacks in the game as prove.
Vick has always had lightning-quick speed, but at 36, many around the league wonder if he can still run away from a defender. Vick told reporters that he’s still fast enough to beat the reigning MVP in a 40-yard dash.
“No, Cam can’t beat me in the 40,” Vick replied when asked if Newton could top him in a 40-yard dash, according to Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer. “But his speed is decent. Decent speed. Good enough. Fast enough, I will say that.”
Vick is in Charlotte for the annual HoopTee Celebrity Golf Classic — where he placed Newton in a group of fast quarterback that included Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick, and Robert Griffin III.
“I like Cam’s style. I think you’ll have more kids that will want to play with this kind of style,” Vick said. “But everybody’s not going to be blessed to grow to 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds. And it’s all muscle. He’s special.”
Last season Cam led all quarterbacks in rushing yards — gaining 636 yards with 10 touchdowns.
