In the Lakers’ loss to the Bucks in Milwaukee on Saturday, Lonzo Ball broke the record for the youngest player to record a triple double. He broke it at 20 years and 15 days. The previous record was held by LeBron James.
James praised Ball for this accomplishment in the early stages of his career. He says that Ball can be one of the best point guards in the NBA if he continues to work on his craft.
“I definitely think back to when I was that young,” James said Monday. “There’s not many games that I can remember when I was 20 years old or 19 or even 18. So first of all, congratulations to him. I think he’s going to be a really, really good point guard in our league, probably a great point guard if he continues to work on his craft, which it seems like he does. They got a good one.” (ESPN’s Dave McMenamin)
Ball has not shot the ball well in his rookie season but other aspects of his game such as his passing and rebounding have fans watching closely. Triple doubles may be something that will be closely associated with his name soon.
