Aaron Rodgers has had a long recuperation process. However, not everyone was happy when he decided to travel to Egypt instead of Jets’ required minicamp. Rich Eisen, a die-hard Jets fan, was one of those who voiced concerns. He drew comparisons between the scenario and the Lakers drafting LeBron James‘ kid Bronny.

The host of The Rich Eisen Show clarified that although he can see why Jets head coach Robert Saleh deemed Aaron Rodgers’ absence unjustified, he views it as a calculated effort to maintain a valuable player’s happiness.
He concluded, nevertheless, by highlighting how “weird” the entire circumstance is. Thus he said that the circumstances were similar to the Lakers picking Bronny in an attempt to appease LeBron. He said,
“You’re helping make employee number one a lot happier in his dotage years, in the remaining window of chance for you and the franchise to win it all together.”

He maintained that with a little more preparation, this might have been easily prevented. Jets may have made a minor sacrifice to keep Aaron Rodgers happy in his last years, much as the Lakers might have thought about picking Bronny James.
Eisen continued, saying that he believed the New York Jets might have avoided the circus of media attention that surrounded Aaron Rodgers‘ choice to forego the minicamp in favor of a trip to Egypt.

He clarified that the Jets could have easily rearranged the minicamp schedule if they had been aware of Rodgers’ plans well in advance. Thus, he added,
“If the Jets knew that he had an experience in Egypt planned for that week as long as Rodgers had previously said…then just tag the previous week where Rodgers was going to be there as the mandatory week.”
The last two days Rodgers missed were more of a non-committal event. Minicamps were tough for the returning quarterback, who practiced many times over the course of a weekend. They’re lot more laid back these days, though, and Eisen thinks Rodgers’ absence wasn’t that significant.
