Matt Hasselbeck wanted a chance to remain a starting NFL quarterback; Tennessee Titans needed a proved veteran quarterback to be a leader in the locker room and in the meantime groom 1st round draft pick Jake Locker. Each side meets their request as Matt Hasselbeck has agreed to a multiyear with the Titans.
I am a diehard Titan fan and couldn’t be happier with the move. Matt Hasselbeck allows us to compete for a playoff spot in the AFC and we have a starting quarterback that be a leader in the locker room, maximize the talents of Kenny Britt and Jared Cook, and give Chris Johnson another incentive to work out an extension sooner than later.
I agree with the opinion of CBS writer Mike Freeman, the Titans are playoff bound. Of course we need Chris Johnson back in camp, and the offensive line to protect Hasselbeck. When the Titans have had stability at quarterback they have competed with the top tier of the AFC, they held the best record in the conference in 2008 and I expect them to steal the AFC South this year.
