Michael Vick should know better than any quarterback in the National Football League that your job isn’t safe no matter what the head coach says.
Especially Andy Reid who has been known to lie from time to time.
Lets not get it twisted Vince Young knows how to play football when his head is in the right place and if given the opportunity he would take Michael Vick’s job. He said as much in these comments.
“We’re going to compete, and that’s what we do,” Young said Saturday regarding Vick, in comments distributed by the team. “It’s going to make him play better and it’s going to make me get better. That’s what we have to do, and I have his back. Whatever happens, if I get a chance to get out there, I know he’ll do the same. Right now, I’m just going to be paying attention to him, listening, asking questions. At the same time, I’m definitely going to be the best that I can be in order to push because I want to see him be the best that he can be and help him lead this team to a Super Bowl.”
That is the right attitude Young should take. Even if you are the backup you have to compete and practice as the starter. Vick isn’t the most sturdy of quarterbacks so it is possible Young will get his shot at some point.
The Eagles are loaded and someone needs to the leader. Vick gets first crack, but don’t be shocked if Young has his opportunity as well.
