Florida Marlins To Open Up 2012 MLB Season With New Stadium

Finally the Florida Marlins get to play in their new stadium. The Marlins will get to play in their new stadium to kick off the 2012 MLB season against the St. Louis Cardinals on April 4, 2012. They will have the eyes of the nation on them as it will be the first MLB game of the year, and the only game played that day. The franchise is going to undergo some big changes this season. The team will change their name from the Florida Marlins to the Miami Marlins and they’ll finally have a new place to play — a 515 million dollar retractable-roof stadium near downtown Miami.

It’s been a long time coming for the Marlins. These are welcome changes for the baseball fans in South Beach. This club has won two World Series titles since starting play in 1993 — more than anyone else in their division. However, they’ve struggled to keep fan support and apparently their stadium has been one of the reasons why.

Fortunately on November 11th, 2011, the team will unveil their new uniforms, a new logo, and their new name change.

Could this be the new logo? We’ll see ..
