A league source told Rodney McKissic of the Buffalo News that the Bills and representatives for free agent wide receiver Stevie Johnson have exchanged contract proposals and will meet face-to-face at next week’s NFL Combine to try to hammer out a deal. Despite some immature behavior from Johnson, he was definitely one of the Bills’ major offensive assets in 2011 and the Bills have been clear in their desire to sign him to a long-term deal. The 25-year-old Johnson played all 16 games this past year and finished with 76 receptions for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns. It looks like the Bills have a good chance to retain Johnson without using the franchise tag.
