The situations are a little different.
The Patriots were 0-2 and coming off a losing season when Bledsoe was knocked into the next dimension by Mo Lewis. Tom Brady came in won a ton of games and the rest as you know is history.
Alex Smith only missed one week because of injury, was playing at a high level and the team was winning. If anything he should have a bigger issue than Bledsoe.
Unlike most, even though I like Colin Kaepernick as a player I will not say Jim Harbaugh made the right move unless they win the NFC Championship game.
If they don’t it is a push and we will never know if Smith could have gotten them over the hump. For what it is worth Bledsoe understands how Smith must be feeling right now.
“Alex is handling it the right way,” said Bledsoe. “He’s not causing trouble for the organization. He seems pretty supportive of Kaepernick. The benefit he’ll see from this is, when other teams look to sign him, they’ll know that not only are they getting a good player, they’re getting a high character guy, a team guy. It’s going to open up a lot of opportunities.”
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t know if Alex Smith will be successful wherever he ends up, but he can hold his head high knowing he was a professional throughout this process.
