That is mathematically impossible, but Derrick Rose isn’t paid to solve math equations he is paid to play basketball. I understand what he is saying and I tend to agree.
The worse thing you can do is rush back and end up hurting yourself further, so until he is comfortable and confident in his knee no one should be putting pressure on him to return.
From his quotes, it appears he will be the one that makes the final call.
“I don’t have a set date,” Rose told USA TODAY Sports on Monday in his first extensive interview since the 2012-13 NBA season began. “I’m not coming back until I’m 110%. Who knows when that can be? It can be within a couple of weeks. It could be next year. It could be any day. It could be any time. It’s just that I’m not coming back until I’m ready.”
How close is Rose to 110%?
“Right now, probably in the high 80s,” he said. “Far away. Far away.”
Rose believes that he will be even better when he does return because of all the work he has done to strengthen the other parts of his body besides his knee.
We will see, only time and possibly deer antlers will tell.
