Hurd had no other options, the Feds had an air tight case and if he was found guilty the traditional way, he was looking a very long jail sentence.
By accepting a plea deal, he will try to lessen that blow.
Hurd was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine. While out of bail, he was caught trying to solicit another big drug deal. He isn’t the smartest criminal around.
His trial was set to begin on Monday, but his lawyer says a deal is in the works for Hurd to plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and cocaine.
The sentence for that can range from probation to 40 years in jail, so we will see how the prosecutors and the judge decide to handle Hurd.
Hopefully, this will be a wake up call for him.
