We brought you the news earlier this week that the Dallas Mavericks were reportedly attempting to shop their lottery pick in the hopes to create enough cap space to sign both Dwight Howard and Chris Paul this off-season. It appears that reportedly, the plans have changed in Dallas.
Per Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Mavericks have given up on the chances of acquiring Chris Paul to focus solely on bringing Dwight into town.
I think Chris Paul, depending on who [the Clippers] hire, is going to stay with the Clippers. The Mavericks are really interested in Chris Paul, but I think they want Dwight more. They think they can make them a point guard.
According to the report the Mavericks have decided to look elsewhere to remedy their point guard needs. Particularly setting their sights on Golden State Warriors guard Jarret Jack, who will also be a free agent this off-season.
Patience with these situations is key because we won’t know what to believe until free agency actually opens up on July 1st. We’ll keep you updated throughout the saga of Dwightmare 2.
