It isn’t that JR is a bad player, it’s just he shouldn’t be the second best player on your team. He would be at his best with limited minutes off the bench for instant offense, but not on the floor during crunch time.
It makes sense for him to opt out of his deal because it was only going to pay him $2.9 million next year and he can get more than from the Knicks or someone else.
It is likely he will be back with the Knicks for about $4-5 million a year, but don’t be surprised if some other team offers a little more and he bolts.
