Manti Te’o is loving life in San Diego, and each day that passes, he gets further away from his dead girlfriend catfish scandal.
Te’o knows he’s an obvious target, but according to Around The League, Te’o says his new Chargers teammates have yet to tease him about his hoax.
“No, lucky for me I’m surrounded by guys in San Diego who really care about football and really care about winning, and they really care about people,” said Te’o, who’s in Aurora, Ohio, for this week’s NFL Rookie Symposium. “And for me as a rookie, I just keep my head down and keep working and keep my head in the playbook, so I don’t give them a reason to yell at me or give them a reason to not like me.
“For me, I’m just keeping my head down, do my responsibilities and make sure that I’m working to be the best linebacker I can be.”
Te’o definitely lost money by falling in the draft, but definitely gain some peace of mind, by avoiding New York, Chicago, or any other big pressure situation.
Te’o of course is in a NFL lockerroom, so he’s going to face his share of jokes and humor, but as long as he keeps his up and grinds, I have no doubt it will be all good for Manti.
