The police have no idea where the gun is at.
They thought it might be in the lake, but after days of searching they have come up empty-handed. They believe either Hernandez’s friend Ernest Wallace or fiancee Shayanna Jenkins may have dumped the gun, but neither one of them are talking.
The police have a lot of circumstantial evidence, but the charge against Hernandez is murder, so they have to prove he pulled the trigger. Without an eye-witness or the murder weapon they might have trouble doing that.
After seven days of searching a lake and nearby pond in Bristol, Conn., state police divers have come up empty-handed in their search for the handgun used to kill 27-year-old semipro football player Odin Lloyd.
Authorities said Tuesday they don’t expect to return for further searches.
