The NCAA has handed down a one game suspension to Memphis’ freshman forward Kuran Iverson. The suspension is a result of Iverson’s involvement in an unauthorized summer league game in his hometown of Hartford, Connecticut according to Fox Sports.
The NCAA only permits players to play in summer league games in their hometown or where they attend school, not both. Since Iverson played in the Bluff City Classic in Memphis he was not allowed to play in Connecticut. Since Memphis self-reported the violation the NCAA was lenient with the freshman.
Iverson will miss the Tigers’ season opener against Austin Peay on Nov. 14. His first appearance in a college basketball game will take place Nov. 19 when the Tigers travel to play the No. 8 team in the nation, Oklahoma State.
