The lawsuit against Kristen Saban for allegedly beating down a sorority sister has been tossed out of court. The reason according to WFAA.com is the infamous “stand your ground law”:
Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge James H. Roberts Jr. ruled Thursday that Kristen Saban was justified in using force to defend herself during a 2010 scuffle with Sarah Grimes.
Grimes claimed Kristen Saban injured her during a brawl that followed a night of drinking.
The judge says evidence shows Grimes initiated the confrontation. And he says Kristen Saban was allowed to defend herself under Alabama’s “stand your ground” law.
From the original story, it sounded like Kristen definitely stood her ground:
When it was over, there was a ton of blood and Sarah had a bruise on her temple the “size of a tennis ball.” The final damage was an “elbow contusion, a concussion, cervical strain, and headache.” Oh, and “Later, Sarah would be diagnosed with a deviated septum.”
It looks like young Ms. Saban won’t have to make Nick put any money up to settle this.
