The Packers organization lose one of their best players today in running back Johnathan Franklin. Franklin was a standout at UCLA before being drafted by the Packers last season. He was one of two rookie runners that made a huge impact on the Packers and made it possible for the team to make the playoffs despite an injury to star QB Aaron Rodgers. Franklin suffered a neck injury late last season that shelved him for the playoffs and after months of rehab and evaluation it has been determined that his neck will never be strong enough for him to compete in the NFL. Here is the tweet Franklin sent out after finding out the devastating news:
I’m thankful for all the prayers and positive support! God has a plan and I’m trusting in it. #OneDayAtATime — Johnathan Franklin (@JFrank2308) June 18, 2014
Here’s a letter Franklin tweeted out with stating his retirement from the NFL.
It’s sad to see such a talented young player get his career cut short. We all wish Franklin the best moving forward in life.
