The Seahawks may have coerced Marshawn Lynch to come to minicamp, but training camp isn’t looking so good. According to former teammate, Michael Robinson, Lynch will be holding out for a new contract, and really how can you blame him?
At 28 years old, Lynch has over 1700 carries and was expected to make $5.5. million in 2014. However, the Chiefs just bumped Jamaal Charles’ salary to $8.3 million, and running backs aren’t really known to get big salary bumps in their 30’s.
By holding out, Lynch will be subject to $30K daily fines, and after the fifth day, there will be a partial forfeiture of the $6 million signing bonus from his 2012 4-year, $30 million contract.
