Fans at the Angels game against the Red Sox last night got their money’s worth, and then some. The two teams played a 19-inning marathon game that ended this morning at 3:39 am ET, according to MLB.com. The game lasted a total of 6 hours and 31 minutes before Angels 1st-basemen Albert Pujols hit a solo home run in the 19th to give the Angels 5-4 win over Boston.
“A game like this can turn things around the way that we want to, so hopefully that’s the case,” Pujols said. “If that’s the case, it’s worth it to play 19 innings.”
The game was the longest this season and longest in the history of Angels stadium.
