We reported earlier that Jay Z has jumped feet first into the sport of boxing by getting his promotional license.  According to Dan Rafael, Mr. Carter didn’t wait long to make a first impression.

Roc Nation outbid and reportedly blew away the competition at today’s WBO purse bid for Peter Quillin’s mandatory defense against Matt Korobov.

Former Golden Boy executive David Itskowitch, who now works for Roc Nation, was present on behalf of their company.

Top Rank’s Carl Moretti, who represents Korobov (24-0, 14KOs), reportedly bid a shade over $515,000.  Golden Boy Promotions, who represent Quillin (31-0, 22KOs), bid $1,207,000 – and Roc Nation bid $1,900,480.

Roc Nation is reportedly looking for a date in November (1st or 8th, with the 8th as the current target) – with Barclays Center in New York City and Washington DC being mentioned as the two possible locations.
