Adrian Peterson a native Texan, has been reported to have had a phone conversation with Dallas Cowboys owner and General Manager Jerry Jones about his desire to play for the Cowboys once his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings is over.
ESPN senior writer Don Van Natta recounts the conversation in a recent ESPN Outside the lines piece that Jerry was in the suite after a June George Strait concert and a friend of his handed him the phone with Peterson on the other line. Jones is quoted as responding to Peterson’s statement: “Well, I understand, Adrian,” Jones told Peterson during the call. “I’d like that, too … Well, I love your story. I love your daddy’s story. I’ve always respected what you’ve been about. I’ve always been a fan of yours.”
This could become a larger issue for Jerry Jones concerning the NFL tampering rules, as Jones did not contact the Minnesota Vikings and let them know that a conversation between he and Peterson had taken place.
