It’s always a huge blow for football as a whole whenever this happens.
It’s a sad day in Troy, Alabama as it’s been confirmed that a 17-year old football player at Charles Henderson High School has died, after collapsing during the first half of a game last friday night.
According to AL.com defensive back Demario Harris apparently suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm during the first half of a game against Davidson at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy. He’d just finished making a routine tackle moments before he collapsed. Charles Henderson head coach, Brad McCoy reached out to the public through AL.com via text message:
“It’s a sad day for our school, community and football program,” McCoy’s text reads. “Demario’s family and team is our No. 1 concern and (we) will take it one day at a time. Demario will be greatly missed!”
According to McCoy, a neurologist has since stated that the aneurysm had nothing to do with any contact in football, and “could’ve happened in his sleep or walking down the hallway”.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and community that was affected by the untimely passing of this young man.
