Team USA ended the first frame of their game vs Ukraine down 19-14 due to some bad passes and poor defense. There were so many missed passing attempts by Team USA who really is feeling the void from having no true facilitator on the court. At the end of it all Team USA is just too big and too talented as they ran away with a 95-71 victory over Ukraine. It was the last game of the group play before tournament Round of 16 begins on Saturday.
Kenneth Faried continued his efficient play going 5 for 6 from the field for 10 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Kyrie Irving had a nice game as he scored 11 points with 6 assists before going out of the game after falling hard on his back. James Harden had a standout night leading all scorers with 17 points off 7 for 12 shooting and accumulating 5 assists. Derrick Rose finished group play with a 2 of 9 shooting night for 4 points and 4 assists. Seemed that Rose was pushing too hard instead of finding the open man most of the game, although he did have a few nice finds.
Team USA was able to limit their turnovers to only 10 this game while forcing Ukraine into 19 turnovers. Ukraine led for a total of 10 minutes which is something, I guess, but were outmatched by the Americans. The Round of 16 begins Saturday with Group C number one seed Team USA facing Group D number 4 seed Mexico.
