Here is the thing.
Dez Bryant can say whatever he wants, but he has no leverage. He could hold out, but that rarely works in the player’s favor. The Cowboys can franchise him and he has nowhere to go. They aren’t going to let him be a free agent, so at this point I would advise him to stop talking, but we know that isn’t going to happen.
Here is what he said to Clarence Hill of the Dallas Star-Telegram.
“I just know what I’m going to accept and I know what I’m not going to accept,” Bryant said. “You know, it’s not about the money. It’s not about none of that. I just feel like a little respect should play a factor in that. I love it [here]. I really do. But every day you grow. Let’s see what happens. It’s all about respect. It’s all about respect. I am a very loyal person, but just don’t test my loyalty.”
Bryant said he’s not trying to be unreasonable but says his focus on taking care of his family and getting what he deserves.
“At the end of the day, I want to win. But at the same time, I have a family and that’s what is important. I feel like, hey, I put the work in, I got to give myself some kind of credit.”
There is a high stakes game of chicken going on and we will see who blinks first.
