The Miami Dolphins felt really good about themselves after beating the Patriots 33-20 at home in the season opener.
“We made a statement as a team,” McCain said. “We had three or four turnovers and we were down, but we knew we could do something. We had to calm down, get our poise and come out and ball. We came back real well and shut them out in the second half. That’s unheard of. With Tom Brady out there you expect about 35 points.”
Fast forward three months and the Patriots are division winners after thumping the Dolphins at home 41-13. After the game several Patriots including Darrelle Revis referenced back to all the talking the Fins did after that first win.
“There was a lot of talk,” Revis said after Sunday’s 41-13 win at Foxborough, according to CSNNE.com. “Those guys were chirping. The Miami Dolphins were chirping this week about (how) they should’ve beat us by 50 and all of those type of things in the first game.”
“If that’s what they wanna do, then that’s what they want to do. The one thing you gotta understand is you get a second stab at it because we’re in the same (division). You might need to watch what you say.”
