San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke reached out to Mike Shanahan on Tuesday, according to a report from Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
Shanahan sat out the year after being fired by the Redskins. During four seasons in Washington, Shanahan recorded a 24-40 record with one postseason appearance.
Shanahan has also hinted at interest in the Bears job as well. He’d be a pretty good fit with a veteran corp that simply needs someone offensive minded to lead the ship.
