A sometimes painful reminder that we as a society have a ways to go with race relations.
I remember growing up and being taught the painful truth about the history of my ancestors in our country. the painful struggles they went through to gain any glimpse of equality. Marches, sit-ins, protests across the country for equality. It was 5th grade before I could even look at a confederate flag with out feeling fear that my life might be in danger. Confederate flags and white cloths were used to drive fear for so many years. The white power signs were a reminder of a past symbols use to tear down a community.
This is ridiculous I thought we passed the racial stage of society. pic.twitter.com/xonnf18mUy

Texas anchor Dale Hansen saw fit speak out in his Hansen unplugged not to condemn the kids but to tell we need to change. Dale talks about the changes he had to personally make with understanding the pain that remarks can have on people. Society does have more changes to make and it starts with understanding. Understanding why these signs no matter what the intent are in no why acceptable.
