Here is what Officer Slager’s attorney (who is no longer his attorney) said happened before any videotaped surfaced.
“What started out as a routine traffic stop quickly escalated after the driver fled,” Slager’s attorney said.
“When confronted, Officer Slager reached for his Taser — as trained by the department — and then a struggle ensued,” Aylor said. “The driver tried to overpower Officer Slager in an effort to take his Taser.”
Seconds later, the report added, he radioed that the suspect wrested control of the device. Even with the Taser’s prongs deployed, the device can still be used as a stun gun to temporarily incapacitate someone.
Slager “felt threatened and reached for his department-issued firearm and fired his weapon,” his attorney added.
The report indicated that Slager fired multiple times, but it was not specific.
Backup officers did first aid and CPR on Scott until paramedics showed up. But Scott was pronounced dead.
Here is what the video shows.

Imagine if there was no video, what do you think would have happened in this case? How many times have the police claimed that they feared for their life from a black male attacker, that grabbed for his weapon and they had no other choice but to shoot him.
Read Darren Wilson describing his altercation with Michael Brown.
Brown was a “demon,” a monster with terrible resilience and incredible strength.
“When I grabbed him the only way I can describe it is I felt like a 5-year-old holding onto Hulk Hogan,” said the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wilson of the 6-foot-5, 290-pound Brown. “Hulk Hogan, that’s how big he felt and how small I felt just from grasping his arm.”
In Wilson’s story Brown was mouthy, aggressive, and eager to fight. Wilson said he asked Brown and his friend, Dorian Johnson, why they couldn’t walk on the sidewalk instead of the street. “Fuck what you have to say,” Brown supposedly said. When Wilson tried to open the door to his police car, he says Brown shut the door and began to strike the officer in the face, handing his stolen cigarillos to Johnson to better attack Wilson.
In Wilson’s account, Brown punched like Balrog, with enough force to kill him outright. “I felt another one of those punches in my face could knock me out or worse. I mean, it was, he’s obviously bigger than I was and stronger and the, I’ve already taken two to the face and I didn’t think I would, the third one could be fatal if he hit me right.”
At this point, Wilson says, he drew his gun. “Get back or I’m going to shoot you.” Brown—Wilson said—grabbed his gun and replied, “You are too much of a pussy to shoot me.” Wilson fired, shooting through the glass panel, and prompting Brown to back away. Brown, according to Wilson, “had the most aggressive face. That’s the only way I can describe it, it looks like a demon, that’s how angry he looked.”
Read George Zimmerman’s account of his altercation with Trayvon Martin.
Martin “approached him” and asked, “You got a problem?” Zimmerman said no, and Martin responded, “You do now.” Martin punched Zimmerman in the face, making him fall backward. Martin got on top of him.
Zimmerman yelled for help multiple times, but Martin told him to “shut the f*** up.” Martin started smashing Zimmerman’s head into the sidewalk. Martin went to grab for Zimmerman’s now exposed firearm (Zimmerman told the dispatcher he was armed) and said, “You’re gonna die tonight, mothaf*****.”
Zimmerman un-bolstered the gun first and shot Martin.
You know what these accounts sound like? Scenes from a movie, that someone watched about stereotypical black teens.
In our society the cops and vigilantes want you to believe that black males have some sort of death wish where they grab guns and plan to kill cops while walking down the street or being pulled over for broken tail lights. Black men are supervillains with insurmountable strength that can be unarmed, but put the fear of God into people who have WEAPONS to use against them.
What is more likely, that black people who already have a healthy fear of police would actively provoke their own deaths or the police who have the ability to cover up crimes would exaggerate what happened? You think people who see cops get away with murder every day, would purposely go out of their way to provoke a cop to shoot them? It is so unrealistic that it is disturbing to me how many people believe stories about Hulk like strength and Boyz in the Hood style narratives from the police.
Officer Slager planted evidence, lied on police report and shot a man who posed no threat to him 8 times in the back. If there was no video, it is highly unlikely he would be charged with anything, Mr. Scott’s name would have been dragged through the mud, GoFundMe and media interviews would have made him a millionaire just like Darren Wilson.
Dead men can’t tell their side of the story.
The irony of everything are the cops saying don’t judge us by the bad apples, when black people have been saying the same thing for centuries, the difference is black people don’t have the go ahead to shoot to kill or arrested people because “they feel like it” (yes a cop said that in this video).
It scares me how quickly everyone who isn’t black was SO quick to believe Officer Slager story even as illogical as it sounded, but it scares me more knowing what is going to happen when someone isn’t around with an iPhone.
