The International Olympic Committee has decided to strip the 2012 U.S men’s 4 x 100m relay team silver medal due to Tyson Gay doping. Trell Kimmons and Justin Gatlin, Ryan Bailey, Jeff Demps and Doc Patton will begin returning their silver medals. Tyson Gay returned his medal last May to the U.S. Olympic Committee, while the rest of his teammates awaited a decision on whether they would be asked to return theirs.
Tyson Gay tested positive for a banned substance in 2013 U.S. championships; instead of receiving a 2 year ban, Gay worked with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to receive a 1 year ban in exchange for information of ex coach Jon Drummond. The U.S Anti-Doping Agency investigation concluded that Gay started using banned drugs in 2012 and all result from 2012 should be vacated.
