The New Orleans Pelicans have a coaching vacancy and a very promising future. This is a very coveted job in the NBA with the potential of Anthony Davis to take another huge leap next season. The Pelicans have reportedly met with former Bulls and Clippers coach, Vinny Del Negro for the job according to Yahoo sources. Del Negro may be a long shot as Jeff Van Gundy and Warriors assistant Alvin Gentry are favorited to land the job. Del Negro reportedly spoke with Pelicans general manager Dell Demps about the position. Del Negro has had a pretty successful career off the court in the front office and as coach. In no way would Del Negro be a bad choice, but I have to assume that Jeff Van Gundy is the Pelicans number one choice. It all depends on if Van Gundy wants to step out of the booth and back onto the court. Anyone that gets to coach that team is going to look good though with that team.
