Bryce Harper is on a tear this season and appears on track for his first MVP; but don’t think that he’s so locked in he can’t have fun out there.
During Tuesday day-night double-header against the Toronto Blue Jays, a fan threw her phone out of the stands to Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper, and Harper, being a man of the people, took a selfie with it.
You know you’re feeling loose when a phone is thrown at you and your first response is to take a selfie with it.
The man is hitting .325 and already has 18 home runs. His Nationals have risen from the dead earlier in the year with a lot of help coming from Harper, and much of their future is rested on his shoulders.
It’s not as if Harper is ignorant to these facts, he merely chooses to embrace them positively instead of brooding. Some old school baseball purists hate Harper and the way he comes off sometimes. Not necessarily for gestures such as this, but for some of his more immature antics.
Truth be told, the MLB needs as many Bryce Harper’s as they can find. But the further we get into his career, the more we begin to realize that he may in fact be a once in a generation talent.
Its just a plus he’s got a personality, too.
