Paul Pierce will go into the Hall of Fame as a Boston Celtic, one of the franchises that brought the NBA into the forefront, via their rivalry with the Lakers.
Speaking in Las Vegas before the NBPA’s inaugural Players Awards, the Clippers forward said he was happy to go home, but he’d never suit up for those Lakers according to the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn:
“It’s a dream come true to be able to come home, finally,” Pierce said. “I grew up a Laker fan but playing on all the Boston Celtic teams . . . there’s no way I could go there — so this was the next best choice. And it’s always been a dream to play in front of my family and friends.”
It’s cool that Pierce still feels fire about the rivalry. It should make for four compelling games this upcoming season.
