Despite their physical abilities and insane athleticism, it’s incredibly rare to find highlights of a WWE superstar on ESPN’s SportsCenter. Barring the appearance of Ronda Rousey or another celebrity at a major WWE event, the World Wide Leader doesn’t generally give air-time to what many consider not to be a true sport. Sure, the outcomes are pre-determined and the story-lines are planned months in advance (okay probably days), but there are still world-class athletes that hit the ring every week.
But there were signs that WWE was starting to break into the mainstream sports world. From appearances by Rousey to the former UFC Champ Brock Lesnar returning to WWE alumni Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson becoming the biggest action star on the planet, WWE has slowly but surely crept into the mainstream. And according to former WWE employee and now-SportsCenter anchor Jonathan Coachman, WWE’s SummerSlam this Sunday will be getting some true SportsCenter coverage.
So next weekend does anyone know of anything to do in Brooklyn. Don't have anything on my schedule. No wait… Yes I do. #SS

“@JoshNASCARWWE: @TheCoachESPN Will we see you on air? The masses want to know!”-I'm not going just to be a spectator. #sportscenter.

Whether SummerSlam will get its own segment or not will be interesting to see. Could we see some WWE superstars interviewed like NBA and NFL stars are on the show? Whether or not we do, this is definitely a win for the WWE and their fans.
