After looking like a shell of himself in Atlanta, defensive end Osi Umenyiora has decided to call it quits. However, the two-time Pro Bowler did receive an offer from an anonymous team.
“Either I was going to play for the Giants or I wasn’t going to play football at all,” Umenyiora said.
Umenyiora played in all 16 games a year ago, but his production level was at the lowest it’s been at in a while. He only accumulated 2.5 sacks, which was the lowest total since his rookie campaign when he had a lone sack.
The 33-year-old signed a one day contract with the Giants today so he could announce his retirement as a member of the team.
